Meet the PayU Leadership Team

Laurent Le Moal

Laurent le Moal

Chief Executive Officer

Laurent was appointed CEO, PayU in January 2016 and is a member of the Naspers Executive Team. He is responsible for developing our global fintech proposition, including all payments and credit operations across 18 high-growth markets as well as all strategic fintech investments. 

Laurent has recently guided the company to profitability and PayU's volume of payments (TPV) has doubled in the last two years to nearly $30 billion. He has secured more than $350 million of investments in fintech partnerships and acquisitions, notably Citrus Pay in India, Kreditech in Germany and Remitly in the US, where he is also a member of the board. 

Laurent brings extensive knowledge of digital payments and emerging markets to PayU. He worked eleven years at PayPal, concluding his career there as Vice President and General Manager for Continental Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa. 

Laurent previously worked as a business analyst at McKinsey and in 1999 founded TalentManager, a leading recruitment software provider. There he spent three years successfully growing the business before selling the Italian operation. 

Laurent holds an MBA from the London Business School and is a graduate of Bocconi University in Italy and HEC in France. 

Aakash Moondhra

Chief Financial Officer

A Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary, Moondhra is also an MBA from the Southern Methodist University - Cox School of Business, in the US with Beta Gamma Sigma Honors. Previously, he worked as the CFO of Snapdeal, where he was also responsible for Legal, Corporate Affairs, Internal Controls and Risk. During his time at Snapdeal, Moondhra contributed to their 100X growth in GMV, raised USD 1 billion from marquee investors and closed multiple acquisitions. Over the last 20 years, Moondhra has worked with ANZ Grindlays Bank, Andersen Consulting, AT&T and Bharti Group in various roles and even spent time as an entrepreneur selling readymade kitchens in India.

Chief Executive Officer, Payments 

Mario Shiliashki was appointed CEO of PayU EMEA in October 2015. Before joining PayU Mario was Senior Vice President and Group Head of Global Emerging Payments at MasterCard. Prior to MasterCard, Mario was the Managing Director of PayPal in Asia, where he launched PayPal in Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Thailand and Vietnam, growing the business to over $100M in revenue. Mario is an advisor to Metamorphic Ventures in NYC and loves helping early stage businesses. In his early career, Mario was an equity analyst at Goldman Sachs and subsequently a strategy consultant at Bain. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Economics from Bryant University.

Siddhartha Jajodia

Siddhartha Jajodia

Head of Credit 

Sid is currently the Head of Credit at PayU. He is responsible for leading PayU's global credit strategy which is built on three pillars: in-house developments, partnerships and acquisitions and investments. Sid leads PayU in developing innovative credit services to support consumers and SMBs, using market-leading technology to open access to credit in underserved regions across the world. Sid also serves as a Board Member for PaySense. 

Prior to his role with PayU, Sid held various roles at Lending Club, most recently as their Chief Investment Officer. At Lending Club, he was also responsible for overseeing the small business loan segment including product development, credit policy, underwriting, sales and operations. Before this, he was a Senior Vice President at Capital One Bank and Head of Small Business Lending. He has extensive experience in developing data-driven strategies for risk management, customer acquisition, and product development across Consumer and SMB segments. 

Anirban India CEO

Anirban Mukherjee

Chief Executive Officer, India

Anirban Mukherjee is a part of PayU's global leadership team and holds the position of Chief Executive officer, PayU India. Anirban brings to PayU two decades of experience in global payments, credit, and digital banking gained in the US, India, and broader Asia-Pacific region. He has long been at the forefront of a changing financial services landscape and understands the opportunities exceptionally well. Most recently, Anirban was part of the leadership team at Jio, where he drove payments, merchant services, and digital financial services, serving as the Co-CEO of Reliance Payments Solution Ltd. Prior to Jio, Anirban worked with Standard Chartered Bank in India and APAC and with CapitalOne as a senior executive leader in the US. He has an MBA degree from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and is an alumnus of IIT, Kharagpur.

Patrick Ellis

Patrick Ellis

General Counsel

Patrick was appointed General Counsel of PayU in April 2015. He is responsible for legal, compliance, regulatory and public policy, and is a South African qualified lawyer who has worked both in private practice and in-house in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Australia and Dubai. Prior to joining PayU, Patrick was the head of legal, corporate and institutional for Standard Chartered Bank in the Middle East and Africa. Over the last 20 years Patrick has worked predominantly in the banking and finance sector and has worked with JPMorgan, BNP Paribas, Franklin Templeton Investments and Weil Gotshal & Manges.

Chief Human Resources Officer

Agnieszka (Aggie) is Chief Human Resources officer at PayU. Prior to PayU, Aggie lead the People part of Naspers B2C Segment Strategy for three years. Aggie has 20 years of experience leading multi-country HR functions in the high-tech and FMCG sectors. Aggie has driven culture development, people strategies and transformation initiatives for businesses at every stage from start-up through to maturity. Aggie's main priorities at PayU are supporting the team through the final stages of business transformation as well as co-creating and nurturing a cohesive PayU culture for the way forward.
